Whole-Home Light Bulb Checklist
A whole-home checklist keeps you from buying duplicates, missing rooms, or mixing bulb colors by accident.
Start with one space or walk the whole house.
Ceiling fans, lamps, cans, vanities, and more.
Base, shape, lumens, color, and dimming.
Compare LED cost against old-bulb assumptions.
Use the list online, in store, or room by room.
Build room by room
- Start with high-use rooms like kitchen, living room, bedrooms, and bathrooms.
- Add secondary areas like halls, closets, laundry, basement, garage, and exterior fixtures.
- Keep fixture notes when a room has unusual bulbs or dimmers.
Group by bulb requirement
- Combine bulbs that share the same shape, base, brightness, color, and dimming.
- Keep separate groups when any important spec differs.
- Use room names and fixture names so you know where each bulb goes.
Check energy assumptions
Estimate hours per day for each room and compare LED energy cost against incandescent-equivalent cost. Treat it as a planning estimate, not a utility bill.
Print before shopping
A printable whole-home report gives you one list for shopping and a room-by-room walkthrough for installation.
